THE
MAKARANGA GARDENS
From
the Lodge, guests are able to make their way down
into the gardens using the winding, wheel-chair friendly
paths where they will find an oasis of peace and serenity.
There are also many beautiful statues in stone, bronze
and marble, which have been imported from Italy and
Zimbabwe.
The
authentic Japanese garden has original bridges, walkways,
stone lanterns and hand carved figures, imported from
Japan and set out according to ancient traditions.
This unique area promises to provide visitors with
a sense of awe, wonder and peace.
Throughout
the gardens guests will discover an impressive variety
of both indigenous and exotic plants, including some
rare and unique species. One of the most magical parts
of the forest is along the moss-clad road, lined by
magnificent Macaranga trees and lush vegetation. This
quarter is home to many rare and exotic species of
Orchid, Camellia, Magnolia and Rhododendron. The garden
is open until 1pm daily for visits. A qualified horticulturist
is available on request. Visits will culminate on
the Tuscan Terrace, which overlooks Venus Pond. Here
guests can quietly contemplate the day's experiences
while enjoying a variety of refreshments.
