Our contemporary style restaurant and deli spill out onto a covered deck which offers the most beautiful views over the privately owned Botanical Garden. Guests have the option of Al Fresco dining on the deck or inside NONNA while enjoying fresh tantalizing cuisine and soaking up the atmosphere.
NONNA, the restaurant, is fondly named after Makaranga matriarch, Danna Flack. Chick and Danna Flack bought the 30-acre property in 2002 and named it Makaranga after the Makaranga tribe from Inyanga, Zimbabwe where Danna spent her childhood and is also named after the towering wild poplar trees, which line the stream in the garden. Since then Danna has delighted in all things Italian complete with taking on the Italian nomenclature NONNA, since becoming a granny. The restaurant, it seems, in a most natural manner, almost named itself.
The open plan kitchen faces onto the restaurant and produces a tantalizing contemporary fare. Mervyn Davies, Chef de Cuisine at NONNA, takes you on a taste and visual explosion with the NONNA menu.
The walk-in wine cellar houses hand selected local and international offerings.
Children are welcome and will enjoy their own eating area, rolling their own play dough and partaking in our range of arts and crafts, situated on a stretch of pergola-covered astro turf. There is also an outside structured playground with a natural timbered gym, which is in close proximity so that carers can take a well-deserved respite from their responsibilities while their children play on the rock garden and play-gym visible from the restaurant.
Available Monday - Friday, 7 - 10:30 am. A stack of hash browns, bacon, grilled tomato, poached egg and hollandaise sauce as well as a cappuccino for R45.

Designed to share. For R380, enjoy a starter platter, a main and a cheese and dessert platter for 2. Includes a complimentary glass of Anura Sauvignon Blanc per person.
STARTER PLATTER: Spanakopita, Chicken skewers marinated in our thyme and our lemon and garlic, Lamb kofta with rosa plum tomato, Calamari with lemon and garlic, Spinach and feta cigars, Vegetable spring rolls, Tzatziki and pineapple mango and chilli sauce.
MAIN DISH: Chicken breast stuffed with feta, red onion, shitake mushrooms, red peppadew pesto and chives, Grilled prawn wrapped in poached sole topped with a white wine sauce, served with a side of sweet potato mash and summer salad.
DESSERT & CHEESE PLATTER: Decadent chocolate brownie, Cheese selection.

Pink gin served with Moroccan chicken phyllo, 3 cheese jalapeño poppers, tortilla chips with a spicy salsa, skordalia and sweet chili sauce for R60. Valid for September and October. Served from 3pm - 6pm.
This great special will continue for the months of September and October. Enjoy a 300g rump with a bacon pepper sauce for R180. Served with a side of your choice and either a Hunters Dry or a Darling Brew. Served for lunch or dinner.
